16 Bit receives Digital Technology Supercluster COVID-19 funding

In June 2020, 16 Bit earned a $1.3M co-investment from Canada’s Digital Technology Supercluster for our AI-based prediction tool for COVID-19 patient care. 16 Bit led a project with Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Trillium Health Partners, Layer 6, SofTx Innovations, Roche and the Vector Institute to combine high-quality clinical data from COVID-19 hospital patients using AI tools. The combination of high-quality data and AI analysis will help frontline clinicians to detect early signs of a severe prognosis and predict COVID-19 outcomes, including whether the patient may need to be admitted to ICUs or need mechanical ventilation.

The Digital Technology Supercluster is a not-for-profit, independent organization that accelerates research and development investment, Canadian talent re-skilling, and technology adoption. Through a combination of the various Digital Technology Supercluster services, including co-investment, collaboration across industries, IP creation and digital talent development, they have created the strongest digital innovation ecosystem in Canada.
